MATEL is sensitive for the environment and aware of its responsibilities against future generations, and has decided to carry out afforestation works in mine sites in order to eliminate negativities and wrong opinions in public that miner destroys the nature and remains insensitive to environmental problems, and also to be an example for other companies operating in our sector. In line with this decision, we have been afforesting sites out of reserve since 1993, and will continue our afforestation works in areas, which will run out of its reserve.

As a result of these works, Matel was awarded with 'ISO Industrial Enterprises Environmental Encouragement Award' by İstanbul Chamber of Commerce in 2000. It is the first time an organization received such award in mining sector, and this encourages the works of other companies in the sector.
